There are days when I battle extreme bouts of self-doubt. I believe my writing isn’t up to par or that I am a failure as a husband or that I couldn’t lead someone if my life depended upon it. These days are hard. We all have these days where we fail to have confidence. It’s a journey, but here’s how to start believing in yourself.
This happened especially recently:
I was going through my emails. I saw a marketing email come through. The title said something along the lines of:
Your beginning guide to writing. How to gain your first 100 fans.
My first thought was, “I need this! This will help me get more eyes on my writing. It could help me become a serious writer.”
Then I had to put on the brakes.
What was I thinking? I’m already a serious writer. I’m not a beginner. I’ve been writing for over a decade.
Why did this headline grab my attention? Because it was meant to. It was meant to cause doubt in myself and those who read it so they would buy into the program being pitched.
As I read the headline, my belief in my abilities went down the drain. The longer I thought about it, the more I regained my self-confidence. I realized who I was and what I could do.
Today’s the day. Today is the day you need to start believing in yourself.
You are talented. You are smart. You can lead an army.
To do so, you must start believing in yourself. You need to get over the marketing messages telling you differently. You need to get away from the people telling you what you’re missing to lead.
You have it all inside of you already. Yes, YOU do!
You’ve got to begin to believe in yourself. You’ve got to believe you’ve trained for this position. That you’ve done the hard work. That you deserve to be in the leadership position you’re in.
Start believing in yourself today. It’ll get you further than the self-doubt you’re believing. Sometimes it can be hard to begin to believe in yourself. There are so many messages telling you otherwise.
These messages cause you to doubt your abilities. These messages need to go.
Here’s How to Start Believing in yourself:
Ask those you lead what they appreciate about you. WRITE IT DOWN
Look at any awards you’ve received. THEY TELL A STORY OF ACHIEVEMENT
Read the feedback you’ve received from others. YOUR ROLODEX OF THANKS WILL SHOW YOU
- Do the work. PUT YOUR HEAD TO THE GRINDSTONE AND TURN OUT GREAT WORK
Pray. GOD WILL SHOW YOU HOW SPECIAL YOU ARE
These are a few ways of how to start believing in yourself, in your skills and talents.
Don’t think you have nothing to offer. You have so much to offer.
