And after this there arose war with the Philistines at Gezer. Then Sibbecai the Hushathite struck down Sippai, who was one of the descendants of the giants, and the Philistines were subdued. ~ I Chronicles 20:4 (ESV)

Today’s passage shows us that you don’t have to be a David or even a Goliath to make a big impact. Like David, the giant killers listed in I Chronicles 20 were normal-sized men. But they took on giants and won! Sibbecai, Elhanan, and Jonathan the son of Shimea don’t get as much press as King David, but they, too, were giant killers.
The wonderful truth is that all of us can be giant killers for the Kingdom if we step out in faith to multiply churches. You don’t have to have a megachurch to make a mega-impact through church multiplication.
When my church of 200 daughtered a church of 200, we doubled overnight. As that daughter church has grown, it has multiplied the size of the mother church many times over.
When my church of 200 birthed a different church of 15,the impact seemed minimal. But that church, in a remote community with a small population, has grown to equal the size of the mother church.
Too many church planters want to be the Goliath and not the David, Sibbecai, Elhanan or Jonathan. But let’s remember who won those skirmishes. And let’s remember that megachurches are called that because they are genetic mutations of normal-sized churches. I am not against megachurches, just against thinking you have to be a megachurch to make a mega-impact.
Be glad for whatever size church you have, multiply it and watch God bring a mega-harvest!
Dear Lord, Help me to remember, even when I feel small, that I can make a huge impact for You as I multiply churches. Amen.
