You’ve seen the caution signs when you’re driving: Men at Work? Church planters ought to have a sign: Holy Spirit at Work. The Holy Spirit is doing so many things–in so many places! The crucial question is: can we see it?
In some places his power is knocking people down. In other places his power is making people stand tall and strong.
In some places the Holy Spirit is giving people loud voices. In other places he’s causing people to sit in silence.
In some places he’s making people speak in other unknown languages. In other places he’s giving them clear messages in their native language.
In some places he’s healing in miraculous and immediate ways. In other places he’s giving strength in the midst of suffering and pain.
In some places the Holy Spirit is pouring out joy. In other places he’s drawing out lament.
In some places he’s breaking the status quo. In other places he’s promoting faithfulness and stability.
In some places he’s providing people with plenty. In other places he’s sustaining people through scarcity.
In some places he’s giving dreams of the future. In other places he’s giving enough light to see today.
In some places he’s crafting an exciting twist in the plot. In other places he’s writing the epilogue.
In some places he’s as clear as a bell. In other places he’s murmuring like the breeze.

Rodger Otero is a husband-father-musician-pastor just trying to figure things out as he goes. San Diego is his Motherland, but Chapel Hill is home, where he pastors the Greanleaf Vineyard Church. He mostly my riffs on formation, leadership, and being fully human.
